Aggressive breast cancer in more young women, study finds

And in this article about it, once again putting off pregnancy is blamed. Great. I never wanted children and wisely chose not have them, and I got cancer for my troubles. Really? Blaming the victim again? Make it stop, please!

I did always want children but when i was diagnosed with breast cancer at 34, i hadn’t met the right man to start a family – so that wasn’t anything i could help! Last thing i needed was to read how not being able to start a family may have been a factor in my breast cancer diagnosis 😦

You are absolutely correct, women wanting or trying to get pregnant at the time of diagnoses do NOT need to hear such a statement. In fact, I was just discussing this with someone in person, as you were sending me this message!

I just want to say that I think you are AWESOME. I’ve been catching up on my reading and I’ve read through a whole bunch of posts. I could have left a comment on each one. I love the way you write and I love the way you think (it could be that your thoughts and mine seem to be perfectly aligned:) ) ….

Totally agree! A lot of the ‘risk factor’ reporting is written in such a way to get headlines and does not take into account the impact it has on people living with cancer….someone even asked me once what I thought I’d done to get cancer!!! (I was 29-I’d had no time to do anything!)

  Grr, the way cancer “prevention” ideas are reported on magazines if a FAVORITE target of mine! People want to feel like they are in control which is why they prefer to blame the victim for getting cancer, that way they can feel safe in the lie that it cannot happen to them. Wish I had snappy comebacks to say to those who say insulting things like what was said to you.-W
